Subject Criminal Background Check (CBC with Apostille)
We recently had one candidate get her CBC rejected by the Korean Immigrations because it was a citywide search. We then called the Korean Immigrations on clarification as all the past candidates been getting their E-2 Visa just with citywide searches. We were told that there has been a push to be more strict on the CBCs. Here is what they wanted:

  • Statewide background check (still without finger prints)
  • No online search print out
When it says 'statewide', it does not mean at the federal government level. It is talking about going to your state police agency and getting the report. But the person also said that a countywide search through Sheriff's station is still being accepted, it is just that they prefer to have a statewide search done.

This means that a candidate needs to initiate getting the CBC sooner as it will take longer to get it done.

Notarization and Apostille policy has not been changed.
